Rear HVAC Controls Needed?

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and very happy I found it... I was searching for a good forum since I picked up my new body '00 Tahoe LS back in November - Good to know there's lots of enthusiasts out there.... on to my question...

I bought the truck all tricked out with screens and such installed... the rear screen sits where the rear HVAC control used to (I am told the plug in the ceiling is still there under my screen)... when I try turning on the rear heating or a/c from my rear control mounted on the ceiling in the front, nothing happens... do I need that rear control plugged in as well for the system to work?

One way to find out is to plug them in temporairly and see if the rear a/c starts working.... if it does, then you have your answer.....

Ya that's one way... was hoping someone would know before I buy the rear control module, and take the chance on it not working...
