I used Duplicolor Interior Dye with great results... Just cleaned with mild soap and water, than used 3m wax/adhezive/othercrap remover to clean everything real good.. Than several light coats till i got the coverage i wanted..

SEM brand is what I've used, they have a good soap for plastics, and a spray called plastic prep which works well

YES, use SEM stuff if you want a quality job! I will swear by this stuff. I have done alot of plastics and even just dyed my seats with it. Looks and holds up great! They have a wide range of colors and applications. Just go to O'Reileys and they should have or can order it for you. Check out my build thread and stuff to see some examples. Good luck.

I used Duplicolor Automotive Paint when I replaced and painted the dash and kick panels in my truck and after 1 year it still looks as good as when I first did it.

painted my dash bezel with gloss black duplicolor & clear... and painted the interior door insert with a can of my color code mixed by the paint store.... :P No problems here, but they don't really get handled much either

I got some Rustoleum "hammered" finish plastic paint from the hardware store to use on my kickpanels and center console. Soap and water, then alcohol and air drying for prep. The can says "no primer needed" and "designed for all kinds of plastics".

When I finished it looked too glossy, so I ran some 000 steel wool over it to matte the finish to look like stock.

I just did it though, so we'll see how it holds up...hehehe I'll let you all know when/if I have any problems.

i did some work with the Duplicolor fabric and trim paint, holds up real well. Went on real smooth also.


Where do you guys get that SEM paint? Ive been trying to find it in stores.

I did my bezel grab handle and both arm rests and speaker grills with dublicolor vynal and fabric paint. that was well over a year ago and it has held up great even on the drivers side armrest and I drive it every day.

almost anything will work good as long as its clean, i used dollar store paint once

I just used the colorbond from lmc. It looks good and seems to hold up but its only been about a month since I painted the dash. I'll try to post some pics later

I just got my step rails from LMC today, and when I was taking them off the UPS truck I was wondering why I didn't order a can of the ColorBond to try it out, LOL.

Quadkid--- I buy my SEM paint from a Carquest store($11.95 a can). SEM's website lists dealers by location.

SEM 100%.

I used Krylon on part of them, and whenever my seatbelt brushes the panel it scrapes some off. So much for 'scratch resistant'. And I can assure you I cleaned the hell out the area, and even scuffed it with 400g. Still blows. I can't wait to strip that stuff off and put SEM there.

The SEM on the rest holds up so well.
