you really wont be able to just paint it i don't think. I think you'll have to glass the panel and smooth that before you can paint.

Are you sure? I was thinking that it was plastic under there?? I was gonna fill some of the seams in with plastic epoxy sand and then paint. Somebody correct me if im wrong. I really dont want to learn to glass on something like that.

My freind told me on his old truck that he painted them after he sanded and such. Idk where that truck is now so I have no idea if it held up at all.

It is plastic under there, but the foam on the vinyl makes some of the contours, and you're really not gonna like the look of the panels without some form of covering... Especially, in the areas around the grab handles (where the screws are). If you do a search on the interior section, I've got some threads where I asked about glassing the panels, and actually have glassed one, and waiting on the other at home. TribalVision's build log is another good resource for how to glass the doors properly, and I have a new method I'm wanting to test as well...

Could I use plastic epoxy? Im just unsure on the methods of glassing.

try vinyl paint. we did the armrests on the door panel of my friends 04 Tahoe and it came out pretty nice.

The vynal on mine is messed up in places. Im just wanting to get rid of it. I have even thought of bedlinering them.
