My 91 has a problem with it's parking lights coming on. I have to wiggle the switch for them to come on. I recently replaced the switch with a new one. I know I have alot of accessory lights on my truck, but I have them on relays and their own switches. What is going on? Switch bad, or do I have a problem somewhere else?

Years back when I had an 89 my switch did the same thing. The contact inside go bad so just replace the whole switch. Pretty easy to do yourself.

Ok, I tore my dash apart last night, and found that my pigtail to the headlight switch had over headed, melted the connection to the running light, and fried the switch. Lucky nothing started on fire. I ended up wiring some HD LED switches. They work good. Pics...

Now I need something to cover the stock switch hole.

Did you have the relays taking their power from the headlight switch wiring?

No. Both relays for the fog lights and the 4 HI mod have power coming from the battery. I just had the one relay taking it's switching on and off from the headlight switch, but Now I have that wired into the main power lead for what use to be the headlight switch harness. So Now all the lights can come on or off sepritely (I know I can't spell). I can just have parking, or headlights, or fog lights on.

Right on. Weird that the switch would just go out on you then. Ah well. New setup looks good.

Glad you solved your problem; your solution looks good. Can't offer advice for covering the stock switch hole; my work usually involves a sledge hammer and duct tape.

LOL. I did find a neat way to cover the stock switches hole. I had a piece of diamond plate that I cut out of my tool box when I added my new stop/turn lights. I just measured out the stock hole, use a tin snips to cut it, added a chuck of cardboard behind the diamond plate so it would mount flush with the rest of the dash, and mounted it with double side tape. I'll get a pic up soon.

I love that idea of taking that cheap plastic switch out.

I am actually in process of doing that to my entire vehicle.
What type of switches did you use?
Any picture of your wiring?

Does this happen a lot on these? My parking lights come on but no headlights. Smelt like smoke so I tore into it and cleaned the contacts inside the switch.....still no luck. I'll go buy a new one and see if it fixes it. Anyone have a headlight wiring diagram?
So I can trace the problem more easily.
Thanks guys.....search didn't find any.

OMG this is what I need to do in my 95. I think i will fiberglass a plate in there that looks more stock. I have the same deal only it's my gauge and cluster lights that don't work. I have to integrate the dimmer in there some how too. I will post something if I ever get around to it.
