mine never had the MAX button..but i plugged it up in my truck and everything worked but am i hurting by using the max button?

You will be fine you just won't have a low speed anymore.

Edit: Let me say that you will have a low but not on the display.

Your new one will show this:
New Low=nothing
new med= old low
new high= old med
new max= old high

won't hurt a thing good luck!

i have this same hvac set-up in my newly bought truck and it just quit lighting up on me, if u know anything about this model and would know how to get it workin i would greatly appriciate it

Replace the three bulbs that screw into the circuit board, pretty much the only place to find them is at the dealership. Max is just the high speed button, BTW.

I thought max is the recirc button, at least when i push max REC lights up.

94extcab is right. Once you hit that button you cannot put it on Defrost OR anything but high.

That's right, but Chevy is basically using the recirculate button to mean it's the "max" speed setting. The older trucks, at least 90s had a REC button in place of the MAX.
