View Full Version : replacing carpet hardcore88 11-17-2007, 03:40 PM I was wondering if anybody has removed there carpet and put down some roll on bed liner in its place. The reason i ask is im planning on doing it and thought somebody might have some pointers. ikon 11-17-2007, 04:04 PM all i know is that the roll on liner i used for my bed is hard as all hell to get clean. hardcore88 11-17-2007, 04:25 PM im not planning on keeping it spotless. The truck is my wheeler and hunting rig so thats ok. I just want to get rid of the carpet and pading under it, i dont like it getting wet and smelling plus its hard to get mud out of it. ikon 11-17-2007, 04:36 PM well then the real only thing youd have to look into is re-routing the wires that are under the carpet. I know rear speakers and and seatbelt sensor wires are under the carpet but i think that might be it...you could easily lengthen those and route them up through the a-pillars, through the headliner, and back down the b-pillars again behind the seat so theyre not visible. hardcore88 11-17-2007, 04:47 PM yeah i was planning on that g0dl355 11-17-2007, 05:18 PM I've thought about doing a bedliner type spray/roll for my interior, but it seems that once they get dirty, they stay that dirty color. Now if they made one that stayed the same color that it was sprayed/rolled, things would be a lot better. ikon 11-17-2007, 05:31 PM if you get rhino or linex you shouldnt have any problems...my step dad has had line-x in his bed for 2 years now and it looks like it did the day he brought it home from getting sprayed. And he uses the **** out of his bed too. g0dl355 11-17-2007, 06:13 PM if you get rhino or linex you shouldnt have any problems...my step dad has had line-x in his bed for 2 years now and it looks like it did the day he brought it home from getting sprayed. And he uses the **** out of his bed too. I guess its the crappy roll on liner I've seen that gets dirty and you can't get it clean. I know my interior won't be prone to uv fading, I guess I thought that the dirt would penetrate and it would look dirty. If it looks that good, I may go ahead and have it line-xed. :aniteef: ikon 11-17-2007, 06:42 PM I believe line-x offers a UV protectant they spray over the liner itself...In fact im pretty sure my stepdad has it because his hasnt faded a bit. hardcore88 11-18-2007, 10:20 PM I think im going to still do it i will post pics when i do it. I got the idea from reading a thread over on a f150 forum. danny7481 11-19-2007, 08:59 AM why not put some vinyl or rubber down? BlackBlazer92 11-19-2007, 12:36 PM i would go with vinyl or rubber floor. it offers the same protection as a bedliner as far as mud but u can insulate it and you dont have to worry about re routing wires. plus u can get a molded rubber mat for cheaper than a prof bedliner job.. unless u got hookups. o yeah and u can remove it if u ever feel the need. i would imagine bedliner is a b*tch to remove. hardcore88 11-19-2007, 04:44 PM the only reason i dont really want to do the rubber floor is becouse there still is insulation under it to get wet and smell. I get what you guy are saying but i think im going to do it and take lots of pics and do a write up for you guys. BlackBlazer92 11-19-2007, 05:20 PM sweet dude its your choice eather way im intrested to see how it turns out vBulletin® v3.8.2, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
