I have been wanting to do this for a long time, I have looked up and down FSC and The fiberglass forums and I have never really found speaker pods that people have made for a OBS with second gen interior. I have only found completely custom door panels but none that flow with the stock panel. So I made some. Tell me what you think. SORRY for the REALLY REALLY bad cell phone pic quality.

x2:think: otherwise it looks sick.

I would move them but there are small screw holes and a small slot behind them for the wire to run through. I would have much rather put them in the pods or hid them up under the dash but then I would have holes in my doors. So I am kinda stuck.:dunno: :dunno: unless some knows how to patch holes in door panels.

At the very least put some colormatched snap in caps in the holes. that x-over mount kinda negates all the work on those lower pods.

I know I am really bumbled about it. I put them there like 2 years ago when I was a dumb noob. I was thinking maybe a Kenwood badge. That would at least look better. The x-overs do have nice smoked plastic covers. But they are still obtrusive. Anybody have any more ideas on how to fix it.

How many holes are there behind the crossover?

Bow ties? tahoe badges?

A bowtie is a good idea. Smooth out the surface of whatever you make it out of and paint it the same color as you're going to paint the pods... if you're going to paint the pods that is.

Nice I really like the bowtie idea. I think I will take a look at doing that. There are 2 small holes from the screws that hold up the crossovers and a small slot that the wire was feed through, that is about 1/4in. x 2in. in size.

How did u attach the fiberglass panel to the old panel? How much do you want for a set ;)

The molds are attached to the door panels with 3 1/4in. bolts.
I figure I have about 80 bucks in materials for both of them so I could make a pare for around 180, since fiberglass is so labor intensive. That is smoothed and primed for paint.

***UPDATES***

Ok it has been forever since I posted last. I have been kinda sick. and the weather here in Iowa has been ****. So here are 3 pics of a completed pod just primed. I am gonna paint them when it worms up.
It is not fully bolted on yet but you get the idea. Comments Please!!

Looks GREAT! :cheer:

I've been contemplating something similar, only I don't want the driver mounted to the plastic panel... Gonna have to figure out how to make the pod & a bezel for the panel to get the fitment!

Very Nice 22Tahoe! I like the 2 components. I am going to make some of theses for a friend of mine. I think I will split the panel like you did. But how did you reattach it to the panel? Did you make a mold of the carpet area or did you glass right to the panel?

Thanks, I will be re-attaching the bottom of the panel with some duramix 40/40 and I glassed on top of the carpet area.

HAHA Thats for sure. Here in Cedar Rapids i think we are up to 72 inches. (gotta love the 4 wheel drive) I would have finished them faster but I got sick.

Nice work, would the process be similar in a 1990.

Do you have a silverado, with pockets, or a cheyenne? With a silvy, It would be similar, and you would have to give up the pocket.

I have a Silverado with pockets, I keep my gloves in there. I could give the pocket up and find another place for the gloves. But I like this idea more:
