Is there a particular threading or size of shift knob that will fit the 4 wheel drive lever in the OBS trucks?

Are the OBS knobs glued on? The NBS are. There's no threads on them.

I couldn't find any shift knobs that would fit, so I made one. Just find an object you want as a shift knob and drill a proper hole in it.

i think obs are metric fine thread, probalbly have to find a adapter kit, alot of aftermarket knobs include the kit, they are like little different colored anodized aluminum thread adapters.good luck

i have seen some that are drilled and just have set screws that hold them in place.

The 4x4 levers knob is just screwed on not glued, as far as my gear shift goes I don't think I can replace the knob on it tho because it only unscrews from way down at the floor and the knob and shaft are one piece

i'm pretty sure the 88-94 knobs are threaded on and the 95+ are glued on.

in my 94 burb it is threaded. I replaced it with a skull. Will post a pic if I remember when I get home.

I see. You could try cutting it off and gluing a new shift know on there. Or use a die to thread the cut-off shaft. It will be a couple inches shorter, but it's not like it will matter on a 4X4 knob.

my old 8 ball shift knob from my 5spd jeep fit right on there. so i think the threads will be the same as a normal shifter?

My '96 is a slip fit.. Held on by a small internal snap ring more or less..
