View Full Version : 03 heated seats in a 99

I replaced my cloth seats with some leather from an 03. I had to change the plugs to get them to work, but the 8-way and lumbar works fine. I did this in the summer, not worrying about how cold leather is in the winter.
It was -20 the other day and although the leather is comfortable, sitting on frozen slabs of cowskin is not. Is there a way to hookup the heat on these seats?
I'm trying to use an aftermarket switch that I can run 12v Switched through, and only need the heat to come on when I hit the switch. Is there a wire that I can hook to, that will bypass the seat control module?

I'm interested in this as well, but for a '97. Anyone?

I believe the '03-'06 seat heaters turn on and off through a command sent on the bus wire. You might be able to get them working by directly wiring the '03-'06 seat heat switches to the seats. I'm sure someone can tell you which wire it is.

You can't directly wire them, because the door BCM translates the signal from the switches to serial and transmits to the seat module. You could bypass the seat module and rig up your own switches though.

Right. Everything is controlled by the BCM, and since the 03 is data it might be harder but not sure on that one.
Regardless you should wire them with their own switches at the seat. The 97 will def. need to be wired at the seat because GMT-400 didn't have BCM's.
