Got the idea to put a S10 DIC in my 2000 Silverado overhead console. At first I thought the S10 would just bold in. After picking on up at the junk yard I realized that it was a lot smaller. The long console might work but I didn't get one.Hers some pics of the project.

Some of the pics arnt the best, all I have is a camera phone. Feel free to post your input.

Test fit

I took a break from my project but finally got around to fiberglassing today. This is the first time I have ever worked with fiberglass. Need more glass on it but not to bad for my first attempt.

Got MPG, fuel used, avg speed works so far. Haven't tried the compass yet, has a seperate sensor that I haven't mounted yet. Also, temp.

So what did you all have to do for wiring? What year truck was the DIC from?

S10 console is from a 2000? i think. if it has an on/off button i think it just has temp/comp. If it has a mode button it has more features. Haven't finalized the wiring but so far i have wired it into the speed sensor in the radio harness, The data wire on the terminal plug and power wires.

Good wiring info from this site

The parts are from a s15 jimmy. Usually the ones with homelink are the mode ones from what I have seen. Haven t tested if the calculations are correct from from my test drive they appear to be.
Search for s1o overhead console on ebay, should find a couple. I got mine for 25 from the junk yard, had to pull it myself though. Be careful be cause the compass sensor is in the roof and a lot of ones doest look like there included.

Let us know how this turns out. It is a very neat project and I hope it goes well. I wish you were doing this on an 03-06 so I could copy you!!! Do you think it would be hard to wire on a 04 like mine?

pretty much all 2005 up trucks that i have seen have mpg and fuel used, etc. maybe there were earlier years, but i think the steering wheel controls started in '05, and these options were there.

It works for 96-up.

I have a long console I built for my 99 2-door.

There, got the pictures up in my last post.
I built that and was ready to put it in my Tahoe after getting the color of the cloth switched, but i ended up selling the Tahoe before installing it. If anybody wants to buy it, PM me. I can give you wiring diagrams to go with it.
