Temp Guage ????

I have a 91 Chev 3500 Crewcab (80's style). My temp guage quit working and is burried to the hot side. Possibly a ground issue but I want to pick one up to put in while the dash is apart. Question is if any guage from the 73-87 models will fit. Mine is a TBI model so I'm not sure if there was a switch in 87 when everything went electronic.

check the sensor and connector for the gauge. it should be on the driver's side of the block, just above the exhaust manifolds. if you short the connector to ground, it sends the gauge needle to the right, as you're describing. give that a look before you tear into the dash... that gets messy.
