I swapped the obs escalade cluster into my truck long ago and im now looking to put blue LED's inside it. When i turn on my lights at night the cluster lights up green. I know the bulbs are not green. If i remember right there is some type of transparent green film which the light shines through giving it the green effect. Can i remove the green film with a razor blade or will simple replacing the stock bulbs with blue LED's be sufficient. i dont think so. Anyone else take part in this project?:dunno:

I never removed the film from mine, just replaced the bulbs. Not a good pic, but you can get the idea

awesome...thats what i was worried about. It looks like from the picture that you also changed the gear shifter indicator thingy. Did that one need to be soldered in? I read through a few stickies and cant remember. Also did you do the a/c cluster?

I don't have a gear indicator (5 speed), so that's probably why it looks different, but I left the odometer alone. I haven't done the A/C controls yet, but I'll get around to it eventually.

Don't mind the fuel guage, or the oil guage - no clue what happened, i had just slid the cluster in the dash, and lit it up to see what all would happen - well - in this pic, i dunno its a cell pic - but my cluster looks Blue to me? not green? i know everyone says there green - but honestly looks like a light shade of blue to me

Yeah, mine's a NBS, but as far as how it looks with LED's, it lights up the same. Just trying to give a general idea of how blue LEDs look with the green film.

You can just replace the LEDs. I have a 2000 Tahoe Limited. Which is obs with the denali cluster and I just swapped in the 5 led blue bulbs from superbrightleds.com and they look great.

Did they turn out "blue enough" without removing the teal tint?

I think they are plenty blue for my taste. It matches pretty well with my Kenwood hu that has blue illumination.

- You would just have to deal with the gear-indicator being there.. you could take the light out of it, or something.. maybe.. but it would still be there
