I have a 1998 extended cab with the bucket seats. There's the "easy entry" feature that allows you to pull a lever and the passenger seat slides all the way forward so that you can get in the back easier.

The seat slides forward just fine, but when you shove it back it's supposed to go back to the original position and lock in place. Mine doesn't, you have to slam the crap out of it to get it to lock. Even then, sometimes it'll slide forward if you hit the brakes hard.

Anyone else ever have this problem and know how to fix it? I didn't see any obviously broken parts.

check the cable under the seat. might be loose. i just used a tiny tie wrap to shorten the slack.

By chance do you remember which cable (spring?) that it was?

The best I can tell, the seat slides forward on two tracks. The top track "remembers" where seat position is. That seems to work ok.

The bottom track allows the seat to slide forward further than you can manually set it. That's where the problem is. There's a cable running (I presume) from the "Entry" lever, through the seat and out near the floor near the seat belt buckle. There's a pivoting arm that pulls/pushes this cable and has a small bolt attached to it. It releases and pushes back in the metal locking pins in the seat track. Do you think that can be adjusted? It's pretty hard to get to.

also check to see if the cable is streched

Well I think I fixed it. There's a horizontal metal bar at the front of the seats which bolts to the seat frame. One of the screws was loose and, I think, keeping the frame/track from being parallel and causing the problem. Tightened the screw and it works for now. We'll see I guess.
