Has anyone removed the 2 plastic covers that surround the steering wheel controls on a nnbs silverado? Just wondering how they come off? I think I have to take off the center part of the steering wheel to remove some bolts but I'm worried about the air bag going off or something.

Yes you will have to remove the airbag module in order to remove the plastic spoke covers properly. You can find instructions for the safe airbag removal on google.

If its the part I'm thinking of GM shows that piece is part of the entire steering wheel. Just because they sell it that way doesn't mean its not removable though.

I figured out how to remove the air bag module. On each side of the steering wheel there are to small holes right behind the module. Have to take a 3mm allen wrench and stick it in each hole about an inch and push on a spring release type thing and the center piece/air bag moudle pops right off.
BTW, the interior looks 100X's better with the brushed aluminum! IMO.

If you ever need to deal with the airbags, just unplug the battery, problem solved.
