How do you fix interior door handle on 1996 chevy pickup?
Keys were locked inside and a slim jim was used which caused some damage inside the door panel and now the door won't open from the inside. What r the steps that I need to follow to fix this problem?

you'll have to pull the inside door intierior off and look at the linkage to see whats bent or broke. could just be unlatched cable from the handle.

You may need to replace the interior handle. They are made of cheap metal so it is a common problem on these trucks. Do a search here for how to replace the handle. It has been written up a few times.

$15 handle from NAPA, and do a search on "interior handle". Simple as popping the interior door panel off, drilling out a rivet, and popping two rods off... Reverse order with new one.

With it being a slim jim incident, you may have a bent rod connecting the handle and the lock, or it (the rod) may have just came out of the nylon slide-guides and is bound up or flexing.
