So my buddy just got an '03 RCLB with a V6 and a 5-speed, and in a complete impulse purchase bought a billet grenade shift knob.
We've tried up and down to get the stock knob off, with no luck.
I searched and didn't find much on the subject, and didn't get a clear answer out of what I did find.
So does the shift knob actually come off, and how does it come off? Or is it all one piece with the shifter assembly?

I believe the shifter is all one piece, and I have treated mine as it. So unless you wanna risk it and get cut happy (which I would not recommend)id look into an aftermarket shifter. I believe B&M puts one out which you can change out the knobs on, plus its a short throw.

I pulled mine on 2001. The knob is splined and glued on it's not made to pull off. So after that screw up i bought a shifter from SLP don't know if they still have them of not.It was on close out when i bought mine. Just for info that shifter also fit my 2000 obs dually

Just for info The shifter will increase gear wine some but not to bad. It don't have a rubber isolator so it lets in more sound but feels real soild

I've been doing some research but can't really find any answers. Two questions on the SLP shifter... 1)Is it a "short throw" shifter, or is it basically stock but prettier? 2)You said it fit your '00 OBS, but would it work in say a '94 K1500? Anyone got any info?

No it's not a short throw just a handle and knob. My 00 dually has a nv4500 trans and it fits it but i don't know if it will will fit a 94. You can pull your handle and see it it has male threads coming out of the trans if it does then i think it might fit
