dome light

when i open my drivers door only the dash lights go on and when i open my pass door nothing goes on if i replace this switch (pass door switch) will it make the dome light go on?

Do you have the toggle switch on your dome lights in the right place.

i dont have a switch that will alow me to turn it off or on its just allways on with an open door or thats how it was.

the only switch there is is the one for the gage cluster brightness if i turn that all the way up only the dash lights come on no dome light even though its sopose to

o and i dont have a working cargo light either

The center dome and under dash lights are on the same circuit.

Driver's door open - under dash courtesy lights but no dome light - your dome light bulb is probably bad. Does it come on when you turn it on at the headlight switch? I don't mean the map lights on either side of it which only come on with their own buttons, but the center light itself.

Passenger door open - no lights at all - the pin switch in the side of the dash is bad. Easy fix. Sometimes if you tap on them a little it will work; you could take the switch apart and shoot some contact cleaner in it and it'll live a little while longer.

Famou$ - the dome light override button didn't come out until '95.

Although my truck is an '01 and likely considerably different, I had the same issue. No dome light and no cargo light, but I also didn't have map lights. I helped a coworker pick out a truck to haul her camper with and then was looking at how to get a brake controller hooked up. Out of curiosity, I peaked inside the electrical box (near the parking brake on the NBS trucks, don't know about OBS) and found a plug that was halfway unplugged. Popped it in and bam... I have lights again. The only thing is, mine worked on and off for a couple years before it up and quit entirely.

i know the switch is bad i guess i tried to ask that since its bad would it cause the dome light not to work even though the driver side switch is fine

I have a 96 and my dome light and cargo lamp do not work, I changed the bulbs, but still nothing. Is there a plug in the fuse box for it. Any other ideas where to look?

raptr98 - check the courtesy lamp fuse, #3 in the panel on the side of your dash.
