Welp, yesterday it happened, my driver side door is jammed from the inside. Since buying the truck in June my doors kind of stuck, but I could open it by ramming it with my shoulder.
I'm wondering what has to be done to fix the problem, I'm sick of having to exit through the passenger side door.

Still works from the outside? Does the inside handle go all the way back to the normal position, or does it look like it's hanging out a little bit? (Compare to passenger side.)

If the handle is hanging out a little, it's probably cracked and ready to let go, and it's not traveling far enough for the acutator rod to pull the latch.

If the handle is going all the way to rest, it's probably fine, but the actuator rod has straightened one of its factory kinks out and isn't able to travel far enough to pull the latch.

And finally, the most common reason for door problems is bad hinge pins and bushings, does your door line up properly or is it sagging at the rear? Fix them, it's cheap and easy, if you don't you're in for more broken door handle stuff, a worn out latch, and eventually will bust up the cab sheetmetal in the door jamb around the striker bolt and you're screwed.

It's too dark now, but I'll take a look at all of that after school tomorrow.
Thanks for the info.

Also, the white/pot metal the handle is made out of stretches by the rod and causes the problem you have. The handle will pull and go back to normal position too. I'm willing to bet you need a new inner handle. Do a search there are a couple write-ups on this topic. Very common.

These 95-up handles suck. I hate it for all you guys that have gone through the enormous amount of work to put 95-up interior in an 88-94 and then realize you gave up door handles that don't break, cupholders that work, a/c controllers that don't normally go bad too often, and steering columns that are easy to put custom wheels on. :)

mine was exactly the same, worked hard for a while had to push on the door, one day just stopped working. like was said before where the rod attached to the handle, that peice breaks, stretchs, mine was slowly ripping before it finally got to the point it wouldnt even pull the rod. new inner door handle only like $20 new, only problem is the only color they come in without going to gm seems to be gray, my inteior was gray so that wasnt a problem, but if yours isnt than its your choice what to do. only take about 15min to install.

You can buy any color handle and just move the metal handle part to your old base. It's no big deal. It just snaps in there.
