OBS 95 with bucket seats. Drivers side lumbar switch is the confirmed culprit. Shop wants $99.00 for switch and $170. for labor.
The switch has been discontinued (shop can get it though).
I cannot find a replacement on the net!
Tried Gm parts direct, they show it for $24.95, but the program wont let the order go through?
Any other source??
Thanks in advance!

id check your local junkyards, perhaps you have one there that lets you "pull" your own parts...i doubt they would wanna sell that peice seprately from the seat, so go there and buy something else that is cheap for your truck and get the switch while your at it

I just dumpstered a complete bench from a '99 one ton OBS that had the lumbar switch on it...because someone let their damn dog chew the cushions, and the console was busted. Figured there wasn't a single useful part on it so away it went. :(

Thanks for the tip.
Trucks are VERY HARD to find in my area at the junk yard.
People here tend to hang on to them!

Cowboy;
Good tip on a switch.
Been thinking about swapping out the passenger switch (it still works) for the drivers side.

I can't figure out why the upholstery shop wants so much labor. I didn't try really hard, but I reached up into a seat I have sitting on the shelf and can feel the back of the switch. That tells me it's possible you may not even have to remove the seat from the truck to replace the switch. Unless they think the short may be in the wiring and they want to yank the seat out and pull the wiring, too?
EDIT - I flipped the seat over and got a closer look with the flashlight; yeah - they have to remove the seat from the truck to swap the switch out. The wiring harness for it is held captive by a small ring on the inside of the seat frame, and the connector for it is in the middle of the brackets. The air hose also unhooks about midway under the seat as well. $170 seems a little high, as it would probably take less than an hour to replace.
