1988 3500 ext cab. A faint, very high frequency pitch electronic squeal or whine is coming from under dash. 5 people have agreed it is electic not mechanical. I have removed the KEY/door alarm warning but it is still there. Only hear it when rolling, not parked. Not rpm or mph related, A/C off, radio off still there. Intermitten at will stays ON longer than OFF. What other warning item is under dash?

I have determined the whine comes from the speedometer. I jacked up the truck. disconnected the speedometer sensor on the transfer case, dis-abling the dash speedometer. and the whine quit!
Do i have to replace the speedometer?
