My pride and joy, my 1996 Chevrolet Silverado. I am 21 years of age and have had it since I was 16 years old. I do not wish to sell it, but I must because I am going to be going to school this coming year. Over the years it has gone through many changes, the biggest being the transplant of a LT1 engine from a 1994 Corvette (which was rebuild this year along with ported heads, custom cam by Comp Cams, etc). A 5 speed manual transmission has been added, along with a 14 bolt 9.5" rear axle for some added strength. The truck has had a LT1 setup in it for about 16,000 miles, so there are no kinks to work out. This truck is just a big pretty pavement pounder, it has NEVER SEEN MUD, EVER. Hard to believe I know, but it is true. You can look in every nook and cranny, you will not find old dried up mud anywhere.
The truck was built with daily driving and long trips in mind, and I do drive it anywhere and everywhere. It has been on many trips from PA to NC and vice versa. All gauges and functions including cruise control work just as factory with the exception of the AC. The AC could be made operable again with some custom lines and a little bit of wiring. Being the engine is built to perform and be efficient and the truck is geared right it is actually pretty good on gas. Hey, if it wasn't, I wouldn't drive it every day or on those long trips, right? If you are wanting to drive it a long distance, do not be afraid. The ride is smooth, it turns and handles well, and it has always been very reliable. Ladies can drive it too, my ex girlfriend used to take it out whenever she wanted.
As I sit here trying to think what to write, I am thinking the best way to describe this truck would be to just give a rundown of the modifications.
