I noticed that the needle on my speedo is not sweeping like it should. It jump, and sticks. What can I do to get it to stop this? Clean the connections behind the cluster?

Clean the connections behind the cluster? mnstrjim 11-24-2008, 02:02 AM Whats the make and year of the vehicle? 03-05 had a recall on the inst. cluster and that is how the problem started, first the speedo goes then the rest of the guages slowly. If you have a speedo cable in a early model, put some graphite lube in it. ssw/t 11-25-2008, 09:27 PM could be the pickup connection on the other end too... Chucks1500 11-26-2008, 08:00 PM My 04 Monte SS had the same problem. It was common on 03-05 chevy gauges and some other GM products. There might be a recall for the trucks, but there wasn't for my car. I had to have the whole cluster replaced to the tune of about $600. Luckily i had an extended warranty and it cost me nothing. It's the stepper motors that run the needles. there were a bad design and when it gets cold they get really unresponsive and seem to stick. eventually the whole cluster will die off. If you want search Ebay, there is a guy on there that repairs the cluster for like 100 bucks or something. you send it out,, and get it back. He has a warranty on his work too. vBulletin® v3.8.2, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
