Have any of you installed factory cruise control on a non cruise truck?
I have all the parts and am debating doing the job.

Truck is a 93, cruise is out of an 89. gungyspliff 11-29-2008, 11:30 PM I have done it on a 1988 with parts from a 1991. Plug and Play. Do you have the steering column? Don't forget the bolt on the throttle body to attach the cc cable and the bracket that holds the throttle cable and TV cable. I had all the parts from a donor truck, and I added tilt and delay wipers as a bonus. someotherguy 12-01-2008, 12:12 AM Don't even need to change the steering column, just kind of a PITA to fish the cruise wiring for the new lever through there without having the old one to pull your fishing wire through. Richard ntimidator_3 12-01-2008, 04:22 AM just did mine this weekend, the wire was there just had to replace non cruise turn lever with a cruise turn lever. can't get high beam indicator light to work, and cruise indicator light doesn't work but everything functions, just no indicator lights http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k327/ntimidator_3/parts/100_1682.jpg 0000 12-01-2008, 08:54 AM someone told me i coudnt do this on an 05? someotherguy 12-01-2008, 02:57 PM just did mine this weekend, the wire was there just had to replace non cruise turn lever with a cruise turn lever. The original posters' truck is a '93; on '88-'94 columns the multifunction lever that has the cruise switch has the wire attached and must be fished down the column. Richard Ttomes 12-03-2008, 05:02 PM did my 98 earlier this summer. had to change the multifunction switch (turn signal/wiper/cruise) but did not have to drop steering column or pull steering wheel. Plug in for the cruise was under dash and the plug in for the cruise module uner the hood was there too. Took me about 2 hours overall. ntimidator_3 12-04-2008, 08:15 AM someone told me i coudnt do this on an 05? should be able to, just get the replacement handle that has cruise. you can look on the drivers side of the column to see if you are wired for it, if so just drop the kick panel under the steering column, and the upper and lower cover on the column and use a torx bit to remove the 2 screws unplug your old one, and plug your new one in and bolt it on. You may have to disconnect your neg. cable to reset the computer then it should work if your wired for it. sometimes you have to go to the dealer to get you truck programmed for it. I didn't have to though. vBulletin® v3.8.2, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
