My gas gauge in my 98 chevy silverado 1500 does not work. I filled my truck up one day and the meter doesn't move at all. Does anyone no whats wrong or has had this problem before and can help me out? Thanks alot?

both my 92' and 93' had gas gauge problems. They would work fine, then they would not work at all. You will just have to start watching the trip. and use that as a gas gauge.

the needle doesnt move at all or doesnt read correctly? is it stuck at empty?
i had this problem with my 98 burb and i replaced the fuel pump and sending unit and it works now but the needle twitches a lot but stays in one area, so i still know how much gas is in there. might have to clean the ground contacts or something.

My gauge in my 01 silverado does that to an extent. If i fill my truck up full it will read correctly but every now and then it will tweak and say i'm at 1/4 tank or empty it just jumps around non stop... any ideas?

ya you cant buy just the sending unit, i got the pump and sending unit from o reily for like 225.

ill check whith o reily then. with lmc truck the cost very depending on what model truck you have

ok i checked and its cost 270 so thats a better price if that is the problem

im pretty sure that would be it, our trucks are notorious for it, and if its not your probably gonna need one soon anyways lol. if you can, try and do the labor yourself. i did mine on my 98 myself, and really didnt feel like it on my 02 tahoe and they charged 250 f*ckin $$, and i will never let anyone change it again. good luck :thumbup:
