88-94 dash pad cover????

my dash in my 92 is cracked to sh*t i was just wondering if anyone's ever used one of the dash pad covers, do they look like sh*t or are they worth the 70 bucks?

Been wondering the same thing, I also saw one that looked good on ebay but for $120 I dont think is worth it.

I know the carpet is the cheap alternative, but have never seen it personally.

How hard is to do a dash swap for a 99 on dash?

I haven't seen one in person, but have considered one for my truck, it needs it. I will probably try to fix my dash or find another one in good shape. I would never use a carpet one, just the molded plastic type that fits right over the factory dash.

I have a carpet one. I used it for a short time. Fit well and looked pretty good.

I use a carpet dash cover in my car. The color is a perfect match for my interior, and it looks good.

It sure beats Armor-all or another like product.

For $70-$120 or whatever to just lay a plastic thing on top of your dash, I'd hunt around boneyards for a good dash shell. Yeah, it's hard to find one that isn't cracked, but they're out there if you hunt long enough. Removing/installing an '88-'94 dash isn't very hard, it's a hell of a lot easier than '95-up.

When I have good '88-'94 dash shells I usually sell 'em for $100-$150 or so, more depending on how complete someone needs it, to give you an idea of an alternative to a dash cover. Not trying to post a for sale ad in here...and besides, I don't ship dashboards, local deals only on those. My point is you can get a whole dash instead of just a cover, if you're willing to do a little work.

Another FYI they LOOK the same but there's a minor difference between 88-91 and 92-94 - the hole for the dash cluster connector. If you don't want any trouble at all out of it, get a dash out of the right year range for your truck.

yea ive been hunting for a new dash and i no there not hard to install , i was just wanting a temp fix cause it looks so bad lol , guess ill just look harder

i know a guy that's got a good dash shell for sale. you wouldnt have to do the work to pull it out either. :read: :lol:

So what you guys are saying is there might be a market for the dash I pulled when I swapped in the 98 dash? Its 88 I thought it looked like trash but no cracks im aware of.

Also, the covers look like garbage I think. Just hunt down a new dash.

I have one of thoses in my truck now , its a temp fix , but I drive my truck everyday , so I cant afford to have my truck down too long.
I wasnt sure about it at first , but to be honest , it fits pretty darn good
I think it was worth the little bit of cash I spent on it to fix it fast
still planning to change out the whole dash when I can put the truck down for a couple of days and after I find a good dash for a good price
