90 5.7 4+4 odometer not working

i have a prject truck with the moon guages and odometer and trip not working - speedo works . I switched up the unit with another from the scrapyard and same situation . another problem is the oil pressure guage - it max's out on start-up and stays there - i suspect sender or am i incorrect . i did pull the one speedo apart and found no apparent problem with the odometer as far as spindles and gears but i may have dismissed too soon ? thanks in advance

I have been through quite a few clusters over the years with my truck. Probably around 5, and all for this exact same reason. Even got a few from the wreckers that were not working. I assume its common.

And it probably is the sender, if its not the cluster.
