Been looking into double din related stuff and found out on the 99-02's you can swap out the radio/HVAC control bucket as they call it in the dash for the one from an 03+ thats made to fit a double din along with the bezel and have a simple no hassle double din opening in the dash. I know nothing quite like that is going to be available on the OBS dash but is the "bucket" still removable? For the life of me I can't remember and last time I had my dash bezel off about half the clips wanted to break putting it back on and I really don't want to mess with it just over curiosity. Does anyone actually know if its removable? If so I'm thinking completely getting rid of it and fabbing something from sheet metal would work well to make your own sort of inclosure to mount a double din and the HVAC controls to give it more room and better spacing in the dash.

on a OBS its all custom work if you truely want a DD radio..... id just suggest a flip out unit for the dash. i did a custom dash on my old truck but i wouldnt do it again tho... to much hassle. ill just buy a flip out radio unit for simplicity and quick install!

I just don't like the look of a flip up screen. Besides unless the screen had guy wires or some sort of gussets it would snap off from the bouncing going down these smooth oklahomo highways. I know it is a PITA but I think cutting the dash is going to be the best way.

well i wish you luck with chopped up the dash!
the best thing is the 95 heater controls are easy to relocate then the 96+ ones... get your air chisel ready ;)

It won't be for a while, if ever. Just one of those things I'd like to have.
I was doing some searching and found a post by 99-2door that said the 96+ controls are thinner and easier to relocate then the 95 ones.
Three words. Air body saw.
