hey does anyone have pics of their obs 94 and before interiors that they have modded. im looking to make mine a little bit more appealing, since im not to big a fan of the whole square everythin interior.

Eh, I haven't done much to mine except replace the gray carpet with black, put the gray floormats back and it looks great. Replaced the ugly stock wheel with a Grant leather/billet wheel. I like my seats and stuff just fine so I don't see any reason to change them. I'd like to do a custom gauge panel later so I can have something better than an 85MPH speedo without using a 454SS cluster.

Thanks Fordeatin' :D it was actually pretty ragged when I got it, it's better now but still has a little room for improvement. I might swap in some Suburban door panels so I have the cool armrest style switches, that and the 'burb panels are in nicer shape at the top where mine have some slight wear.

And yeah, switch is for the cargo light - truck is a '94 with the combo 3rd brake/cargo lights.

Bulbs in the dash cluster haven't been replaced, though it is a pretty bright cluster, the effect you're seeing though is likely a little overexposure from the camera since it was kind of dark inside the garage. Notice how bright the courtesy lights under the dash look, they seem like 100W bulbs!

i had red 194s behind the dash of my 86, and they all faded over time so now it just looks like normal bulbs lol. and the steering wheels seem to change the look alot, altho i like the stock one, i even have one in my oobs lol. 95UKAWN, the beer bottle has to be the best mod i've seen yet. what size speakers are under the dash they look to be like 5x7 or somewhere around there.

Just the factory style gray 60/40. It had buckets and console when I got it but jeezus the driver's bucket was trashed; one of these days I'll have them recovered. I got this seat from a member here in PA - been so long I forgot his name - he wasn't set up to ship, but my good bud Jim (PhillyTurboSix here) made the trip to grab them, slap on a pallet, and shipped to me. :D

I just did some suede upholstering on the inner door panels. There is a thread on her with a step by step procedure. The method is easy and its a cheap project. I had troubles however, maybe the spray adhesive I had wasn't strong enough, but I had troubles with the suede coming out of the seam. I tucked and tucked, its finally sitting in there but I have a feeling that it might be easy to come out so Im just going to make sure to be gentle.

You could get the eq/tape in the Silverado/Scottsdale trim and whichever two trims were the top for GMC. (I like Chevy's use of names better than GMCs use of letters). My cheyenne just had an Am/Fm radio, and a pocket where that eq/tape is.

only the red mats are dirty. Yeah i know I've got rubber mats on a rubber floor, but i get in it with muddy or salty/snowy shoes often, and I'm trying to keep i in good shape.

i love this thread. we see far too many pics of the 95-98 Silverado/Sierra interiors (sorry Bigg G) and far too many of the newer trucks...but it's seldom that we see truely nice 88-94s...i wish mine was worthy of posting but mine is in horrible shape right now...this thread gives me great ideas...

My truck's interior didn't look like that ^^^^^^ 7-8 months ago. I bought it trashed with a very nasty looking 60/40 bench seat and carpet in it that looked and smelled like it was used for a porta potty. I found the buckets & console on Craigslist locally for $130, ordered new carpet and pulled my headliner to have it redone. Took out the old and cleaned up everthing I could while the cab was bare and put it all back togeather.


All you need is a plan and your 2 good hands.

Yea, 3rd gen F-body seats are VERY comfortable. My uncle's totalled '82 just so happened to have newly recovered maroon units in it. :D

I am also very interested in the kick panels. I hate how I only have 4x6 speakers all around my truck, 2 on the dash, 2 in the rear, they suck!! Quick question, I wanted to upgrade to some 6x9's for the rear and cut it out. What is the best speaker for the money out there. I am not looking to spend a lot of money at all. The factory speakers are 4x6's, in the dash and in the rear side pillars. I got my kick panels on ebay, they're Qlogic brand. :cool:

I've always made my own, never found generic ones to be good enough for my ears....

They're not bad. My tweeters have a ball pivot, so that helps with adjustability.

ok cool hopefully i can replace my dash speakers soon. there both aftermarket, but they both vibrate like there blown lol. i've got door speakers, and im gunna take out the factory 4x10s in the back and replace them with 6x9s. now i just gotta find a decent sub box and amp for the back. me and the interior repair guy at my shop just painted the center pieces of my dash to match the gauge trim, kinda like BHB did, i gotta get pics when it gets brighter out. my shop aint to lit up well and its snowing hard outside lol. hopefully tmro i can.

Check mine out- It has a interior out of a 93, i got the seat,carpet with 5 speed hole :rocking: ,door panels, and good belts,good visors all for $100

sorry theres no seat belts or visors in it, im workin on it.

I got rid of my moonie cluster and went to a tach cluster and put red LED's in it and painted my needles white. new stereo too, red HVAC,firey gas pedal, red illuminated oil press. gauge

The material is bonded to the foam, That's why they can't do it. Correct, factory looking replacement upholstrey is not availible for '88-'94s.

Everyone thinks that about their own things and projects, regardless of what they are. After looking through the thread, honestly the only thing I'd do to your interior is try and find a set of 2 dr. Blazer door panels, since they seem to have the switches in a different position. Not quite stock, but just enough that no one will notice.

I've had a couple of upholstery shops claim they could get the factory fabric, they did mention it was a bitch to get the seams just right due to the fact it's bonded to the foam. They said they could do it though, and then gave me a price of $700 to recover my '94 highback buckets. :( :(

They're sitting high up on a shelf right now, while that near-new looking 60/40 is in the truck.

lol, theres nothing wrong with changing the color of your dash lights haha. that is, as long as they match something about your truck, and not in a completely blue interior with red lights lol.

For you obs 88-94 guys: What components/speakers are you running and what fits in the factory places? I think im going to put 6x9's in the back of the blazer and some 6.5's in the front if they fit in the factory place.

im not to sure bout the front, but if you take the plates off in the back that hold the 4x10's, you can eaisly cut them out to perfectly fit 6x9s.

For you obs 88-94 guys: What components/speakers are you running and what fits in the factory places? I think im going to put 6x9's in the back of the blazer and some 6.5's in the front if they fit in the factory place.
The factory spots in the front are only going to hold a 4x6, that's the dash speaker. Not sure what the Blazer has in the back? 4x10's probably in the upper part of the headliner, like a Suburban? Or does it have B-pillar speakers somehow like a pickup cab? If so, those will also be 4x6.

I've got 6.5's in my door panels, but I really hated chopping the panel and the inner skin to mount them. I like it better though than kick panel speakers, because I know I'd be kicking them.

It was a alot of work to get it in there, diffidently does not bolt right up. I had to cut the brackets of the seat, bend them out and drill new holes through the floor.

Overall it fits good with the seats and arm rests, i just have a problem with the position of the seat belt buckles now.. I need to take my seats back out one day and cut the plastic around the seat buckles so it can be flexible.

Not trying to slam you bud, maybe you could find a junkyard truck with blue, maroon, etc. interior and paint those parts, then install them? Gray is hard to find in good shape and it's probably the single most popular color for the OBS's, everyone wants it. I guess I'm just saying I hate to think of those gray interior parts getting painted black.

Thats not a double din above the HVAC controls, its a cd shelf. You can't put an aftermarket deck up there.

I LOVE his dash, but my only issue with it is the lack of a/c vents. The floor vents and defroster vents are still there, but nothing to blow air in your face. Trust me, in the middle of a Texas summer, it doesn't do much good to just chill your Nikes.

Do you remember what brand kit it was? Most of them are a pretty bad match anyway. The best kit I've found so far is the AMI (American International) the part # is GMK-333, can be hard to find local, I usually end up getting mine off eBay.

you have almost my exact truck , mine don't have the factory sports package. Mine was done buy the previous owner. Mine had the short back sport bucket seats but they were beat.

The panels I saw HAD the switches too!

Same truck had a rotted frame so it was junked complete. I found a glove in the rear sidewall when I was digging around it there, emblazed with the GM and UAW logos, left by an assembly line worker I guess. :lol:

I'll post pics of mine later. S'pretty clean considering what it was like when I bought it, but it needs a new headliner and the carpet is getting haggard. I used that spray paint dye for it because it was so stained. I'm trying to decide between black or gray carpet. I want to do that gray microsuede stuff for the ceiling.

My Blazer buckets are identical but don't have outer armrests. I'm guessing they won't tilt forward though, which is something I kinda...need.


Matt, they do tilt fwd so I can get to the back. They basically slide fwd using the lever under the seat and it has the recline handle on the side so it tilts also.

Right, but if you use Suburban buckets in an extended cab, you won't have that "single lever" entry like '93/'94 had on extended cab seats. You'll have to fold the seat forward with one lever, then slide it forward with the other; not a big deal if you don't have people cramming into your back seat very often. I don't, but it's the one thing that kept me from using a nice pair of gray Suburban buckets in my extended cab. Maybe I should have kept them anyway...good gray buckets are hard to find. :(

On the Suburban/Blazer door panels, if you want the conversion to go smoothly without a nightmare headache - you'll have enough work making the window switch wiring hook up correctly - GET THE DOOR MODULES TOO. In other words, the black sheetmetal inner door skins. The holes that the switch panels clip into are way different than the normal truck setup, and you'd have a hard time hacking them effectively.

I know some might think grabbing the whole door module just to change door panels seems like a lot of extra work, but trust me, it's a lot more work trying to cut a bunch of perfectly slotted holes in your existing door module for that switch setup to clip into.

He's right, there are a ton of extra slots for the Blazer/Suburban switch panels. That is what was squeaking in my truck, all the clips that went into those slots would make noise!

I may consider the suburban buckets if that's the only difference, whenever people get into the back seat, they can never figure out the lever anyway.

Yeah i was getting confused too, But thanks for the comments on the SS cluster everyone. After doing the first needle swap I love having the tach but hated 85MPH.... How stupid really. The guages just don't look so.... low horsepower/slow anymore.

This deal with the OBS grey interior colors are pissing me off.

I got my whole interior out of a 93 and all of it matched my old 91 stufff besides the front dash peices, the 93 glovebox door and a/c vent/radio holder were darker grey that what was in my 91. So i put the 93 glovebox on and now it looks tarded becuase the front peices of my dash were factory light grey but the actual dash shell was the dark grey.

And flotsamm HAS THE EXACT SAME TRUCK AS ME and his door panels look darker then what came in my truck orig. and whats in it now? now wtf? was there two different grey's in the early 90
's. my 91 glovebox door is like 985584 shades lighter then the 93 glovebox door i have here. They were all silverado trucks, maybe its cuz mines a GMC SLE? weird

Lots of people wonder why the bedliner,well my interior burnt years ago,this was the easiest,cheapest fix. It cleans up VERY easily with a garden hose, if its really dirty,pull the seat which takes 3 min,powerwash it out!

Decided though Ill be spending more time in this truck so I pulled what I could for interior pieces from a parts truck, Im going to dynamat everything,cut out the back wall of the cab for subs,install interior when I collect up the rest of what I need,buy new carpet,build center console,stereo,cb,cupholders,etc.
Im having a tough time deciding on door panels, I have a set of nice ones out of a loaded PW,PL truck, Id punch a hole in them for window cranks, OR I have a set of 95-98 PLAIN door panels that Id have to smooth and paint.
seats are troubling me too,right now I have my mint stock bench in there,but Im considering buckets again.

Eh, I haven't done much to mine except replace the gray carpet with black, put the gray floormats back and it looks great. Replaced the ugly stock wheel with a Grant leather/billet wheel. I like my seats and stuff just fine so I don't see any reason to change them. I'd like to do a custom gauge panel later so I can have something better than an 85MPH speedo without using a 454SS cluster.

I was going to try to do the headliner in my truck myself, but it's so big I'm not sure I'll be able to get material for it that's the right size. May just take out the board and have a shop do something with it.

Crossy's Son, didn't realize they'd discontinued that shifter, wonder why? I've had for probably 8-10 yrs, can't remember where I got it but it did really tighten things up. I've got a T handle knob on it now and I need to make a plate to angle it back a little more because I do have to lean forward a little to reach it but it was definitely worth it. Looks a whole lot better than the stock plastic baseball bat looking shifter too.

'92-'94 Suburbans, Blazers (Tahoes didn't start until '95), Yukons and crew cabs. Blazers and Yukons will have 2 window switches while Suburbans and crew cabs will have 4. I'd love to find me a set of these panels for my '94.
