I have a 98 gmc sierra z71 extended cab and there is this switch on the driver side where the seat belt meets the floor. I have hit it sever times and nothing seams to happen. It may be some kind of aftermarket piece that someone before me put it on but just been wondering ever since I got the truck.

HOLY OIL SLICKS BATMAN !!!!!!!!
That's the secret oil spill switch. Press it and 3 qts of oil shoots out the tailpipes.
Just joking dude...
Lift the cover and trace the wires from the switch and that should give you an idea what it's there for.

Could be a fuel pump shutoff, that'd be about right location wise.

Might be to cut out the "fasten seat belt" warning.

no the only seet belt reminder is a light in the dash and it does not change that. also it does not turn off the fuel pump I have drove the truck with the switch in both directions and as far as I can tell it does nothing.

They may have had an amp in the back and needed a switch to turn it on and off.

It could be to anything who the heck knows what the last guy did with it. Pull it out and see where the wires go

i've got the same switch in my dash that the old guy before me used to turn on the light in the camper shell. no shell now, but still have the switch instead of a gaping hole. i'll get around to wiring it to the oil slicks one of these days.

That is exactly what I was thinking as well. I've seen alot of people do that, but never seen anyone mount their switch down there.

Auto start switch maybe? On the tahoe there is a rocker switch just like that mounted to the bottom of my dash. Its for when your not using the auto start, your supposed to have it off. Is there a plunger style switch on the core support of your truck, this will give a clue as if your truck once had auto start.

The seatbelt switch is on the part in the middle that the seatbelt plugs into though. Wouldn't make much sense to run the switch over to right there.
I am gonna start installing random switches in crazy places when I sell my vehicles now. I can see the posts now.....What does this switch in the fender well do?
