gauges on an '88

Me and my buddy are completly remodeling the interior of a 88 gmc. we have sanded down all the plastic and dash but the gauges are butt ugly. they are the ones with the bar that moves up. not only are they ugly, but it is very hard to see them. is there any way i can put newer gauges or is there some after market ones i can put in. i have looked around but i cant find anything. i am new here and i would really appreciate any help.
