I have a 99 Silverado that did not come with fog lights from the factory. I intend to add factory lights (and switch) to it. How complicated is it to use the factory switch? I just bought one off ebay (combines fog and cargo buttons).
Is there a simple schematic out there I could reference?

The switch is plug and play, you'll need a relay, and the wiring to go from the fuse box to the fog lights. Within the 99-02 range some have said they need the BCM reprogrammed to get the fogs to work, others have not. In my 05 I needed no reprogramming. Just plugged everything in, ran the wires to the fuse box and hit the switch

So you mean there is an existing spot for fog lights in my fuse block? I guess i never looked. What is a BCM?

Woh no need for search. The BCM is the body control module but our older trucks dont need all the extra reprograming like the 03-07 Bodys do. The fuse for Fog lights is already there with a fuse in it atleast on mine there was. Tap the switch and run some wire to a relay to give them power and your good to go.

99-02 should need a Bcm reflash for fog light operation as the bcm is what energizes your relay, not the switch. The switch is just an input to the bcm. i have done this before and you need to also add the relay to the under hood fuse block, run your wire from the fuse block to the fog lamps and of course your switch
