theres a plug in, inside of the wrapping.
It almost looks like it would be for the fourwheel drive buttons, just looking at where its at..

If everythings hooked up and working right, why worry about it. Thats most likely what it is. They may have put all the wiring in place, makes things easier

do you have a key switch to turn of the passenger side airbag? If not itd lead me to believe that that is the 4wd plug. U got a pic of the plug?

I can get a pic of the plug tomorrow, I've already got the bezel back on, and my trucks all lucked up out in the shop
I do not have a key switch for the passenger air bag.
Are you talking about like GM placing it there?

Could be a foglight harness too.

<--- lacking fogligts.
if they were foglights, I would presume that there would be some spare unhooked wires somewhere on the front end just chillin.
Will yall looking at the plug help determine what its for?

Bed lamp switch is in that spot on my 95. The lights are with the third brake light. May be the release for the rear window or wiper on a Tahoe.

I got barn style doors, so that can't be it.

Your '99 should have the key switch to turn off the passenger side air bag, but you say you don't have it. That tells me most likely someone took that switch out of your dash bezel and put a regular cover plate on it. How about, pull the connector out from being nestled in that foam and show us what it looks like? 6 pins?

Could also be 4WD stuff like someone else mentioned; just because your truck isn't 4WD doesn't mean the harness wasn't included. I've noticed on a couple of newer trucks I've pulled apart, they had sockets on the transmission tunnel for floor-shift transfer case indicator lights, but were 2WD trucks.

Not a airbag switch, they are not in tahoes, not a 4wd switch, my 95 has it and push button 4wd was not available in 95, not a fog light switch because I have a fog light switch and still have this wire like you.
Your guess is as good as mine.

could be trailer brakes controller harness the previous owner had installed. i had my 94 dash apart a few times and never saw anything like that. :dunno:

just cause you dont have it doesnt mean thats what it is there for. its an option yours does not have.

Right?? Nice catch. Also nice catch on Tahoes not having the passenger airbag disable; makes sense because you're supposed to put child safety seats in the rear.
