i have a 97 GMC ecsb. The windows go up and down like they are susposed from the driver's side controls. They do not function properly from the passenger side though. If the driver is putting down the passenger window, and the passenger press their switch "up" then the window will stop going down.

I know the PO tore into the door panels, because just about all of the pins are broken. Is there a wire that needs to be hooked up? Thanks!

You might have a bad switch

How do you check the switch?

I have a 02 GMC ecsb. My problem is on the drivers side window-it won't roll up. It will roll down though. Here's what I've done: I've checked the electrical connector to the window motor with a test light. I get light when I test up and down.

But when I check the the electrical connector to the switch panel with a test light I can get the passenger window to roll up and down but nothing on the drivers side.

Help.

probally a loose wire, if not then get a new switch. They dont cost much and common to go out too.

Morgo- Put a test light or better yet a muti-meter on the leads coming out of the switch on the passenger side. If nothing, then check for power going into the switch assembly. If it has power going in but nothing coming out then its your switches. If there is no power getting to the switches you have a problem somewhere else. Just follow the wires until you find power and figure out why it stops.

lifted_gmc- sounds like a bad switch. Double Dueces is right. The switches don't cost that much and it is very common for them to go bad.

I also forgot to mention the really simple but effective method. Just use a small length of wire and jump the terminals bypassing the switch.
