Hey guys, Im getting ready to covert my dash to the 96 style.

I have some door panels, but I refuse to put them in until they are covered in some sort of cloth. My current 93 panels are carpeted top to bottom, and if I put these bare 96 panels in, its gonna feel like a down grade to me.

These are the panels going in:

I was thinking about tweed. Isnt that easy to lay, even with all the contours? Any other suggestions on material? Places to buy?

Also, how do I get this freakin carpet off this door pocket?

Just to give you an idea of what the rest of the interior will look like, this is the dash I put together and have ready:

Tweed is probably the easiest to lay out, because it's like a weave. The trick will be getting the horizontal and vertical lines in the tweed somewhat straight. Practice. Apply a light coat of adhesive to the panel,(you'll later rip it off, apply glue again and do it final) get a feel for how it's going to lay out. and and lay the material out starting from the high point (below the armrest mount) and work your way outward in every direction. cutting out the area where the armrest sits, and can't be seen once it's in place is going to make life easier, but don't do that until you see how the material is going to fall. (start with a slit)
You may find that pulling it back and smoothing it back into the armrest area may relive some portions where the material bunches up. The plus side is that you really don't have to cover the whole panel (the lower 1/3 behind the pocket).
As for the carpet, pour some adhesive cleaner, or a mild solvent right on the carpet, let it soak through, and soften the glue, then pull it off.
