Could make it look alot like a sub box and keep guns in it at school to go hunting before and after school.

Edit your prob out of school.

Haha.. exactly my plan, I will be at osu in the fall and if you live on campus you have to turn your guns into the police station and I have heard they are a bitch to check in and out... :whatever:

I may not actually keep my shotgun in there on campus but it is nice to have a place to put it that it is hidden sometimes.

Here it is in the truck pre-paint, The orange rag is because there was some wood glue dripping from one of the joints. The paint will just be black and probably pretty half assed because I don't want to get into all the details just the three panels that are showing will I make sure look decent the inside I will paint but it won't be in detail.

I made it to fit another shotgun if needed and one of my fishing poles.

(oh before someone mentions it I am cleaning my gun currently while infront of the computer.)

very nice man, i might have to try something like that. i really like it.

i cant believe you let your gun get so dirty though. i clean mine as soon as i get home from using it so it's ready to go if i have the urge to go shooting.

Well it's actually only been like that two days, I went skeet shooting and it was leaning against a tree after we were done shooting and fell over in some mud I cleaned as much as I could there and wiped it down when I got home but I waited till today to do a really good job.

The laws must be different there. Our guns have to be in a case in IA.

here in md they just cant be loaded and the ammo has to be stored seperately

MI is the same as IA. I wanted to try something to hold my gun behind my seat in my rclb but you gave me a good idea. I may do something like that with my fishing poles.

No they are not.

Most cases its not as strict compared to other states. Not a 100% sure about transportion of weopons. I have always carried mine in a case with the ammo in a bag.

That would be damn nice to have. If you make it a little shorter put a lid on it and fiber glass the bottom you could be completely legal with it. Then if you get pulled over they are in a case heh.

well not to shaby but IMO i would have a lid and a lock, and thicker mdf or wood at least, and even then i would bolt the box to the floor..... for use with a gun!

better safe than sorry. and definatly better idea if your campus has any kind of rules against guns....

Well like I said I probably won't keep them in there.. and as far as safety goes I live in a good little town, my truck stays locked, you wouldn't know it was there, if you didn't own a gm truck you probably wouldn't know how to lift the seat, and a small child wouldn't have the strength to open it, so I am not too worried about it haha.

but I am happy with it, turned out better than i would have thought.

Just be careful with it at OSUOKC. I notice kids stare at my trudck there and if the look at mine they look at yours too. That area of town its as friendly as Piedmont.

Yeah I am not thinkin this means everything is safe but if it is out of sight it makes it less likely something will happen.

i was just thinking about it and if you really wanted to get better security out of it you could bolt a section if chain a few inches long to the floor of the truck and then use a gun/cable lock to go thru the action of the gun and lock to the chain so that the guns are locked in.

edit: haha sounds kinda redneck but thats what id do

Carpet it and it'll look like it belongs there. Must suck to have such strict weapons transport laws. Down here in MO i ride around with my gun in the seat next to me loaded no problems lol

That is a sweet ideaa, but like the last guy said i would carpet it, it wouldnt be that difficult, just glue it on and roll it over the edges. and i would put carpet in the notches where the gun sits so you dont mar up the butt stock and the end of the barrel.

Well here it is painted turned out well, I am currently putting felt where the gun is touching anything, as for carpeting it that seems unnecessary because if you can see in the last pic you can't even see it unless you get down pretty low.

Nice work... I did the back seat fold-down mod... I'm gonna get some claw-type gun holder things that are made for atv racks and bolt them through the floorpan back there...

just do it.... get some cardboard and a razor and make your own templets and when the cardboard fits nicely simply trace the shape onto some wood and cut it out.
cardboards your friend and its easy to get free! hell if ya have to run by mcds and open there cardboard dumpster and pull afew pieces out.LOL

do you really need to buy some paper templetes when you can simply use some cardboard and a knife to make your own.LOL you have the truck....

Its just easier if they are already made up heh. I will prob do it this summer. I would only be able to do it at my parents house since they have all the tools for it and I don't yet and don't have money to buy them all.

05-18-2009, 03:28 PM
you only need 2 tools. a jigsaw, and a drill use a drill and screw driver bits and thats all you need! ;) jigsaw about 20-30bucks, drill 20-30bucks. and i prefer corded drills if you do much building.. battery power runs dead after so much drilling/screwing. plug in ones last forever until they go bad after avery long time of use.LOL i bought mine from walmart.

i started out with just those and did alot with them! still use them all the time! jigsaw cuts shapes and straight also. if you want a perfect straight line simply buy a premium 2x4 that is straight and true and either use a Cclamp or screw it to the wood your cutting and simply put the jigsaw against the 2x4 to cut a perfectly straight line ;)

you learn little tricks. i built quite a few boxes in my old tiny apartment on the ballcony with some plastic tarp layed down to keep the guy below me from getting pissed with the sawdust.LOL

Looks Great! The Flashlight holder is awesome, I keep mine in my door and it's a pain. I was thinking about building a box like that but with black diamond-plate aluminum sides. I'm sure it would end up costing a pretty penny to build but I bet it would look great. I'll let you know if I start building it or not after I check on the pricing of the aluminum this afternoon. Last I remember it was pretty expensive though.
