It's been a long time sense the fuel gauge was hooked up and I just don't remember stock operation. Does the stock fuel gauge twitch a little and have float movement when braking and accelerating? The stock gauge needs to run through the computer to read correct and after the LS1 swap I never put the old computer back in. Almost 2 years later it's now back in just for this gauge! I just don't remember normal ops! LOL Do all the stock fuel gauges have a "nervous" twitch to them and do they all have float movement? If not I need to start troubleshooting while it's still apart!

It seems the dash in the newer interior (1995-up) is prone to the twitching fuel gauge, most often it's like watching a hummingbird, vibrating needle that will make you nuts. I've read where people have replaced the dash cluster and it's not in the cluster; I've also read where people have ran a crazy amount of fuel system cleaner like Seafoam or BG 44K in the tank and it cleared up the vibration. Seems that deposits on the sending unit caused it. Sounds like a stretch to me, but I guess it's worth a shot.
I've had a hell of a lot of OBS trucks and the only ones I had that did it were a '96, '98, etc.

Mine kinda twitches... I think its just the fuel sloshing around in the tank.... usually goes up when i accelerate and down when i stop...

My 98 has the twitch, so does my 99crew. I replaced the sending unit nad pump in my 98, gauge still vibrates.

That's the kind of post that has me doubting the guys that claimed fuel system cleaner made it behave. That and it just seems hard to believe that would fix it, anyway.

If it's anything like mine, the humming bird problem, fuel system cleaner won't work. I put a brand new tank and sending unit in and the problem was still there. (replaced for reasons unrelated to gauge problem)

Stepper motor in the dash cluster, bad ground at the tank/pump assembly have also been known to be culprits. My fuel gauge has the "hummingbird" vibration, but is still accurate enough to know when to fill up. :D

yeah, mine twitches alot with city driving, start and go. the fuel is moving around more. when i'm on the highway it doesn't really move too much.
