The steering wheel is coming apart on my 95 model. Will any steering wheels from later models fit? Also, my truck was wrecked before I got it. Is there a safe way to find out if the air bag is still in it or not?

This guy is selling a steering wheel/airbag from a 1995:

He gives a link to craigslist with pictures.

He could also probably tell you more about airbag removal, etc.

1995-97 had the same style steering wheel, and are probably interchangable, but the airbags or related sensors may have changed from year to year. It'd probably be best to get one from another 1995.

any wheel from 95-97 will work, and the sensors won't make a difference.
I worked in the steering wheel business for 6 years, so I know what Im talking about. Pull the neg. terminal off the battery and let the truck sit for 5 minutes. That will give the airbag charge capacitor time to decharge therby making it safe to proceed with removal. When you remove the airbag from the steering wheel with a flat blade screwdriver, look between the metal case that surrounds the back of the bag and the outer cover. If you can see a folded up looking shiney cloth bag stuff between the metal and the outer plastic cover, then the bag is probably good.
If your ever interested in having your existing steering wheel repaired or a new junk yard wheel wrapped in brand new OEM leather, let me know and I'll give you the number to the best steering wheel guy in the south!
