I going to be istalling an AutoMeter a-pillar gauge pod in my truck. The truck is a 2002 Yukon with pewter interior. As far as I know, the gauge pod comes in black, but I want to paint it to match the factory a-pillar. I remember www.JPcustoms.com used to have instructions on painting to match factory interiors, but i can't find it on the web page anymore. Can anyone help?

Go to your local Napa or other Parts store, not sure what u guys have down in the states, bring in your factory interior colour code, have the guy mix up a spray baum. Tell him it's for plastic and you want a lil flex agent in the paint. I believe u want medium gloss but don't quote me on that one lol.
As far as painting the pod, clean it off with some alcohal so there is a good surface to paint, then paint.
I know a few guys recommend using a base primer/can't remember exact name. I don't think its needed, I've had a pillar painted for 3 years the way I said and have not had flaking, peeling or scratching happen to it.

Do hardware stores match auto paint codes? I just called Autozone and the guy told me they don't match colors. They just have the Duplicolor auto paint.
He told me to goto a bodyshop

right, hardware stores wont but I know NAPA does. Or you can get the factory color in areosol cans from either dupli-color or plasti cote (i think thats the name). I have good results with duplicolor

Yes, I've tried Duplicolor (the one that supposedly matched my paint) and it was waaay to light.
I want to paint my bumper cap and airdam, and was going to try it myself before I put up the $150 for a pro to do it. I figure if I mess up they'll be able to just sand it off. I'll have to see if there is a NAPA around here, don't think I've seen one. Is that just an autoparts store?

Some vehilces, depending on where they were painted, vary slightly from the color that the paint code depicts.
Yes NAPA is a parts store - check the yellow pages

A lil more effort in painting that, you want to lay down a good adhesion primer coat. I don't know the exact names, I'm not a body guy lol...... U would also want flex put into the paint incase u ever bump it, it doesn't all just crack.
