View Full Version : climate control
If I swapped out my ac controls with one from an escalade or denali with climate control would it work or is there something else needed besides the controls itself?
Anybody done this or is planning this?
I thought Jason was working on that swap a while back

Right after Christmas my brother wants to try the swap. I've got the climate control on my HD, his Avalanche doesn't, so we'll be swapping to see if it works. I'll post the results if you haven't found out by then.
I'm curious if the '03 headlight switch is a direct swap. It has a 4 position switch that includes an auto setting so you can turn off the driving lights with the switch.
Hope that helps...

I'll save you some time. The connections are totally different. The manual controls have two plugs and the auto has one. There is about 4 sensors (one being on the dash, notice how the vehicles with the auto climate have two sensors in the top of the dash and the vehicles without have one). There's also a sensor with a fan right above the driver in the headliner. (Looks like a speaker)
It's a total rewiring job, but I'm going to see if I can do it. When I priced out all the parts before it came to about $350. Of course, I did some more research last week and found more parts needed. It'll be pretty involved, but I think it's possible.

Thanks for the update, Jason. Definately saves me some time. If you end up doing it, please keep a running parts list and cost so we might be able to upgrade his Avi this spring.
Thanks again...
Thanks Jason, if its gonna be that much of a job and that much money it just isn't worth it for me.

We've had snow, snow has melted, then we had snow again, and rain and cold.
I'm not sure what -6 celsius is in Ferenheiht but thats our current weather.

Now who has it cold lol
At least now I can turn off the air conditioning without worrying about the igloo melting and and I can get more use out of that snow mobile on the way into town to pick up my deer skins for the bed....

I bought one of the controller's off Flea-Bay and after talking to JP about what all is involved, I am probably not the person to dig into this. If someone wants to buy it, plus one of the four needed sensors, I am willing to sell them for about what I paid. $60 shipped and they both are yours. I paid about $75.
I have pics too if needed.

Money sent! Thanks, now I have to dig out the service manual and try to figure out how to make this thing work. I have wanted this since I first got my C3. I always wondered why a $40K truck didn't have it to start with.

Ok, I will try to get it shipped out today. I might have a few diagrams somewhere that might help, I will try to find them.

Did anyone find out if the 03 headlight switch was a direct swap?
And are there any success stories with the climate control?
