So, I happened to acquire a BRAND NEW instrument cluster for cheap. I got it b/c it has the tranny temp guage. My question is, It was said to be for a 2007, to my understanding it will still work in my 2003 Z71. (just the gear selector appearance is different)

What does it take to get the mileage/hourmeter switched over? A GM tech2 tool? I was hoping with it being brand new, that the cluster would learn itself and put in the mileage/hourmeter.

the dealer could possibly program the cluster for you

it will not learn the mileage, it needs to be programed into the cluster itself. The dealer should be able to do this for you, unless you have a bunch of morons like I did that said it couldn't be done.

Ahh wishful thinking. I have a buddy that works for a chain dealership is seeing if he can "borrow" the GM tech2 to program it.

Was $70 too much for it?:aniteef:

I dunno, I paid $50 for them to put my used escalde cluster in and write down both mileages in my "record" so they can officially go back and figure out the mileage on it.

I figured $70 for a brand new GM cluster was a steal, so I jumped on it b/c I wanted the tranny temp guage.

ohh, $70 for the cluster is one hell of steal. I paid almost $200 for my esky 3 years ago.

my buddy at the dealership said they would most likely charge me an hour of labor for the swap which is $80 in my area (Knoxville TN) or i could wait until his boss was off and sneak it down there  ..i thought about just writing my mileage down and swapping it neway since i have 112K on my truck and my denali cluster i bought only has 59K but on top of being illegal i'd rather have the correct mileage :dunno:
