View Full Version : What do you think about this (GUAGES)?

Ok, I have been looking around for some different guages to replace the boring stock. I found these and was wondering what everyone thought about them...
White Guage (http://www.procarparts.com/store/displaydetails.cfm?pid=CHVY-TAH-9699-6IG)
http://www.procarparts.com/productimages/CHVY-TAH-9699-6IG.jpg
It has 6 different colors to choose from. But I was wondering how do they change. It says it has a 6 stage digital color converter...is that like a switch or what? And for only $39.95 that is a badass deal if it is good :read:
Another one I was looking at was the silver faced plate with the blue numbers...
Silver Guage (http://www.procarparts.com/store/displaydetails.cfm?pid=INDG-96TAHOE-SILREV)
http://www.procarparts.com/productimages/INDG-96TAHOE-SILREV.jpg
Or this silver one from a different website but is more money...
Silver 2 (http://www.stylinconcepts.com/parts.cfm/partfamilyid/662)
http://www.stylinconcepts.com/images/uploadedimages/SportTruck/NuImagePlatinum_opt.jpg
I originally wanted the silver faced one, but then I saw the 6 color white face guage. And if it weren't for FSC.com I would have ordered the 6 color white face one now, but just wanted a second opinion :D

my fiend had indiglo gauges they had some kind of inverter thing that went out like every 4-6 months the company gave him one free one but they were like 20 bucks after that he finally just got rid of them. i don't know if it is the same thing but i would look in to it.

I have never been a big fan of solid white face guages. I installed a set from NRauto on mine and love them. The look and the quality is excellent and you don't have to mess with any of the stock lighting. If you do prefer the indiglo look they have some of those too. You can order them direct from www.nrauto.com or if you like saving money try http://truckperformance.com
Both sets look like this in the daylight:

The regular ones light up like stock at night, but the El-glo look like this at night:

I was looking at the NR guages you have. Are each of those white pieces seperate or are they on one single board to replace the stock? I have not been of fan of the all white either, thanks for showing me those :D

Oh ok...Just a couple of other things. Do you have the regular or the El-Glo guage? And do the stock lights light them up or is there a wire that needs to be connected? Thanks again

Ok I think I have narrowed it down to either of these two guages now (the El-glo or regular white faced) I was just wondering if you had a picture of that at night on your truck. You don't have to do it now if you are busy, or even if you don't have one I understand. Thanks for your help :D

i have the reverse indiglo platinum gauges on my tahoe for about 3 months or so.... i havent had any problems with them, the color converter is just a little dial that changes the shades of color from green to blue......I just wrapped that thing up with duct tape and left it on dark blue (that what i liked best) so i dont have to deal with that sh!t.....
ill try and get some pics of my install, if i can figure out how the hell to post new pics, Whats the new procedure????
or just leave me your email and i will email them to you

Not sure on the procedure for posting pics, but here is my email...mtanner79@yahoo.com I will let you know when and if I get one, maybe you could help install since you have done one yourself :D
So it looks like the boring white stock, I am trying to get away from the boring white light and get a blue or green light :read:

Are you sure about this one? I don't believe they make the Escalade cluster for any model below 2000. Now unless you are :smokin: the funny weed and just made an error or you know where I can get one for a '97 Hoe this wouldn't work:read:

:word: Escalades, Denalis, and Tahoe Limiteds all have the 120mph cluster with white needles. You can also get white faces for them. It's just the problem of finding the cluster since for some stupid reason GM discontinued them!:mad:

Well according to this website they have them still available.

They also have the '02 models, but I'm not sure if these would be compatible with the '97 Tahoe I have. Do you guys know if they would work with the '97 model or is there some kind of problems with the computer? If they do work, hell I might as well get one of these :rocking:

Those are the new style. They won't even close to fit your truck. The Escalade guages for yours look exactly like the ones you have now except for a 120 MPH speedo.

Thanks 97Silverado, I don't even think they make an Escalade style aftermarked guage to fit the '97 style trucks. And are the guages you bought from this place (the white style background) do the numbers light up white or blue at night? Thanks again

No. The ones I'm talking about were in '98-'00 Denalis, '99-'01 Escalades, and '99-'00 Tahoe Limiteds, all of which are still the same bodystyle as ours. They look IDENTICAL to what you have now aside from the extra 20 mph top end and the white needles.

Here's a thread I started about the 120mph cluster a while back. Look at the image "thecodeman" posted. You can see the 120mph cluster there.

I want the guages that you have but I'm looking for the bluish numbers like the Denali. I read in Black_Yukon's post about a month ago that you can replace the lights that are behind the guage...I think it was part #194
http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21026&highlight=piaa+194
PIAA Lights (http://www.stylincompacts.com/parts.cfm/partfamilyid/624)
I would like to get the PIAA 194 bulb that is the darkest blue so it looks something like the VW dash. Has anyone ever done this before other than those on that other post?

You might also want to check into some bulbs called Polarg. Just do a search for them on the net. I am eventually going to change mine out but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I have the flame gauges , Trey are cool and all but if i did it again I would cut and leave the idiot lights black and just peal off and replace the tack spedo oil, temp, volt, and fuel gauge.
I think the quality is a little low that when you turn on the high beams you can see the other symbols next to it. And also the turn signals are white the high beam is white you think they could have put little green and blue peices of plastic in there.
Maybee it doesn't bother some people but im a perfectionist and I wouldn't recomed them to my custermers unless I can color the sybols and find a way to stop the light from spreading to the other sybols. I would take mine off and try but if the adhesive comes off they would be junk 120 out the door.
Just my thoughts

are these flame gauges just an overlay? bc if they were, then why couldnt you just leave the black stock layer on and then cut the flame gauges around the tach and speedo. that way you could still have the colored turns and highs with the flame gauges? Am I missing something?

Where ever you want the white you need to peel off the original black . I should have left the top on and just changed out the botom.
