I just picked up a 98 GMC ext. cab. The interior is a maroon color, and I am not too into it, soo I was thinking about either trying to find all the pieces that I need, dying them another color and/or going with tweed. Now about the dash...what would be the easiest route on it?? I am thinking tweed. But maybe someone has a better idea?? I will probably just have my seats recovered to the desired color, whatever it maybe as I havent decided yet.

Find someone w/ the same year interior and do a complete swap.

Tweed or Katskin leather covers would look good....the plastic parts and the dash can be dyed.

I'm not a huge fan of tweed, I think its a lil played out specially when ppl use it to cover any and everything in their truck.

Katzkin leathers for the seats are killer and they look pretty decent to with nice choices.

For the door Panesl and dash and what not. I would either die them. I believe Dupont makes a very good dye product that you would never know it was done. Not that cheap and comes by the quart or gallon, can't remember.

If u wanna get fancy fancy, pull out the dash and smooth it out and paint it to match the exterior or whatever. Either way its easiest to take the dash out to do any kind of painting or dyeing.

U can replace the carpet with a replacement carpet of choice also.

The dyeing would look the best most likely with some accent painted parts if u like. All in all, I think it would be just as easy to strip the interior, dye it and reinstall it then forking over money to buy all the pieces u need.

Good opinions guys...

My fiancee's stepfather owns a towing business/auto salvage yard/repair shop, and sometimes they get newer wrecked trucks in that I could pull the interior on...or he at least has the connections to find me the stuff that I need. I actually dont want all that much tweed...as I have seen interiors where that is all that is in the inside and it looks like shyt, but a little bit is nice.

I guess I will check into the dupont dye, that might be the best way to go in the long run...

What color is your truck? What color do you want the interior to be?

I have blue interior, and Im not a big fan of that. I was hoping to get it to a grey or a silverish color. Can anybody direct me to the Dupont dye stuff or anything somewhat like it. Id hate to have to try and find a new dash and crap like that in that particular color. To much money. Thanks guys. Later.

But I'm 99.9% sure it is made by Dupont, I'm sure there are other products are out there but this is a lil more proffesional. The dye comes per gallon or quart, not real cheap but not too bad, and you use a proffesional spray gun to apply.

I'll get the name on Monday.

i used some stuff called SEM from a local upholstry shop and it worked great on my brother-in-laws truck. it was 25 bucks for a quart, but it did all of the interior panels in a 87 crewcab dually. just make sure you clean it real good.

nobody, how did you apply this product? Did they provide a spray gun or something? How much did that precise amount cost you guys? Id love to do something like this rather then order a whole new dash for my truck ($$$$) So any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Later.

www.eastwoodco.com

I just bought the vinyl dye/prep/and primer from them and I plan on doing the same transformation as you blue to black hope to have it done before the first of the year. I've heard great things about eastwoods products.
