They're all labeled. Twist the socket out and change it. :) 1badgmc 02-11-2003, 09:59 AM Originally posted by nebraskaz71 How many is there? There are 6 of them for primary illumination and then the various indicator and dummy lights. nebraskaz71 02-11-2003, 02:38 PM ok the behind the dash ones i'll wait till i get custom gauges i guess but how do i change theones behindlike a/c controls and headlight controls?thanks again Whifflebat 02-11-2003, 02:42 PM Originally posted by 1badgmc Take the dash apart an pull the cluster out. I'm tired of the greenish color my dash and A/C give off and would rather have white... :head: 1badgmc 02-11-2003, 02:43 PM Originally posted by nebraskaz71 ok the behind the dash ones i'll wait till i get custom gauges i guess but how do i change theones behindlike a/c controls and headlight controls?thanks again Dunno 'bout those. Probably basically the same way. Go at 'em from behind. 1badgmc 02-11-2003, 02:49 PM Originally posted by Whifflebat Can you do that on an 88-94? I don't know if you could remove that and then change the bulbs or what. Whifflebat 02-11-2003, 03:00 PM Originally posted by 1badgmc There's a green shield over the lights on the '88-'94's. Than green looks gross... :puke: chevy_ownz_u 02-11-2003, 05:16 PM OK, im tryin to figure out the same thing. I found some 194 LED's on ebay, around here we only have AUTO ZONE and ADVANCE AUTO PARTS, no other cool shops. They have blue, red, yellow, white, etc, LED's Some have 1, some 2, some 4 bulbs, Wonder if the 4 bulb ones would fit, that would be cool. Plus, there are plastic pieces back there that make green, not sure if thats something u can get a utility knife and cut it out or what, but heres my idea... Cut out that green plastic, and put blue LED's in behind the instrument panel. 1badgmc 02-11-2003, 05:50 PM Originally posted by chevy_ownz_u OK, im tryin to figure out the same thing. I found some 194 LED's on ebay, around here we only have AUTO ZONE and ADVANCE AUTO PARTS, no other cool shops. I found some amber LED 194's at AutoZone. I went in looking for some normal amber 194's for the clear sidemarkers on the Yukon, but they were out. I saw the LED's and bought a pair of them instead. Some have 1, some 2, some 4 bulbs, Wonder if the 4 bulb ones would fit, that would be cool. I'm sure they would. HvyChevyZ71 02-11-2003, 08:10 PM i replaced my guage lights with hyperwhite 194's and worked fine, i pulled my ac panel lights out and they are small little grain bulbs and they dont offer these in colored versions so you cannot change the color unless you fab up some kind of cover to go on the bulb. be warned; after i took mine out they would not work when i put them back in so i had to go to a junk yard and replace the a couple that i pulled. i have nu image white ac panel and it illuminates everything in blue so that would be something you can look into. 1badgmc 02-11-2003, 09:59 PM Originally posted by HvyChevyZ71 i replaced my guage lights with hyperwhite 194's and worked fine, ... Are they nice and blue now? DarkEternal 02-11-2003, 11:18 PM I have a nbs and just changed EVERYTHING to red last week. I donyt have the green plastic but a blue layer. What I did was color over teh blue in red sharpie and then simpl y color the small bulbs/leds in the ac, radio, 4wd buttons etc.. with a sharpie once again. It looks very cool. As for the gauges i replaced the bulbs with red but its not as red as the AC panels etc.. I want to color the back of the white part of teh gaues but cant get to it. It seems like the plastic cover thing is glued on. Maybe ill pull the needles off and pry it off someday to even things out. I have a few crappy pics on my home page of it half done. It will at least give you an idea. The light is darker than in the pics, and you will find them under "interor lights and switches" black_yukon 02-12-2003, 02:01 AM I changed mine a while ago with hiperwhites. Between my NR white face gauges and the new bulbs, the color came out kind of teal. You can see the results here http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21026 I just found a cheap source for 194 sized led's so this weekend, I'm gonna try it with blue leds. I'll let you guys know how it turns out... chevy_ownz_u 02-12-2003, 02:26 AM so would these work on a 91? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2402619371&category=6777 1badgmc 02-12-2003, 08:23 AM Originally posted by chevy_ownz_u so would these work on a 91? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2402619371&category=6777 Yeah, but it'll look really wierd with the red bulb shining through the green layer. chevy_ownz_u 02-12-2003, 11:10 AM Originally posted by 1badgmc Yeah, but it'll look really wierd with the red bulb shining through the green layer. Ya, i think im goin to take the panel apart and take the green layers off, dont know if they are glued or screwed, but i think it will look good with those LED's with the green part off. Whatcha think? 1badgmc 02-12-2003, 11:21 AM Originally posted by chevy_ownz_u Ya, i think im goin to take the panel apart and take the green layers off, dont know if they are glued or screwed, but i think it will look good with those LED's with the green part off. Whatcha think? Ok, that works. The color should be cool, although I'm not a fan of red gauges. The only thing I would worry about with using the LEDs is whether or not they spread the light out enough to work for the gauges. If you've ever seen a ricer with LED bulbs in his taillights, you'll know where I'm coming from here. They just illuminate a red dot in the middle of the lens instead of lighting up the entire lens. 1badgmc 02-12-2003, 11:24 AM Originally posted by black_yukon I just found a cheap source for 194 sized led's so this weekend, I'm gonna try it with blue leds. I'll let you guys know how it turns out... How much did you find them for? I was looking on eBay, but I can't justify $5 each for those things, so I just got some regular hyperwhite 194s instead. Besides I have reservations about the LEDs as you can see from my post above. black_yukon 02-12-2003, 02:49 PM I got my LEDs here: www.superbrightleds.com chevy_ownz_u 02-12-2003, 04:02 PM Originally posted by 1badgmc Ok, that works. I'd rather see some pics first, because id have to order and all that, no any shops around here i know of that have those. vBulletin® v3.8.2, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
