Since I replaced my window controls with the Denali units, I decided to take the stockers apart to see if the bulbs can be changed.

I found that the stock bulb is tinted blue and is soldered onto the circuit board. If you're planning on changing it, it's not going to be a drop in procedure. :(

did it look like you could just heat up the solder with an iron...and solder in another bulb? btw, what kinda bulb was it, a 194? could you use an LED?:naughty:
I've been reading up on all the posts about swapping stockers with LEDs, now I wanna try every light with an LED...hehe

They arnt 194s, much smaller. It uses a plastics fibre optic like thing to spread the light out. To change mine to red I simply colored the bulb red with a sharpie and then colored the ends of the plastic so it shone through red. You can also color the back of the white parts on the buttons to make it a deeper red. All of the bulbs are these smaller ones soldered on except the ones in the gauge cluster in the nbs. After abotu 3 hours of work all of my interior lights are red on the dash and doors, looks real good.

I believe the glove box bulb is a 194. While you're at it, don't forget the bulb under your hood!

Were you able to take apart and put the window controls back together alright? How does it come apart?

My bulbs in the window switches on the passenger side are not working. Do you know where I can get some new ones to solder in at?

They came apart easy. There are two torx head screws that hold the electronics to the panel. Then you pry off the rocker switches. Then you pry apart the two halves of the control box. It's all held together with snap fittings.

When I did my power mirror controls I broke the tab on the togle that switches the from one mirror to anotehr so the switch doesnt stay on, it was my stupid mistake though. Ill have to find a junkyard and pull the unit from a nbs truck with power mirros and stick it in mine. Other than that it was easy, just sharpie away.

i did mine and everything was good until i got to the side mirror button, i pulled it apart and when i did i saw two little wire things come apart and i could not get the top part apart to get to the bulb so i put it back together and now it doesnt light up. i tried to put in new little pieces of wire in the little slots it has but it didnt work so im stuck with it not lighting up. anybody know how to fix this? kinda confusing i know.
