I have found a truck that I like a lot. It is a 2000 Chevy Z71 LS white two tone w/ pewter botom. It only has 33,000 miles on it too. I really like the looks of the truck. The only thing is it has a bench seat. All my friends trucks have buckets and Ive never had a truck w/ a bench seat in it. My question is, if you have a bench seat do you enjoy it or is it a pain to not have the center console? I like the idea of having an extra seat but i wonder if it will be as confortable as buckets. Thanks for any responses, I am new to Chevys and dont know much about them. I will probably end up buying this truck anyways but i just wanted to get some opinions from guys w/ more knowledge of Chevys. Again thanks for any responses.

well, i happen to like buckets better, but you should be able to sell that bench and get some decent buckets to bolt in for not too much. if you drive like me, you'll prob want the buckets to hold you in the seat a little better:D a bench gave me more room to relax in though.

I prefer the bench, a DECENT bench, though, for a truck---mainly for the room factor. A decade or two back, four average size red-neck high school guys could cram into a benched pickup. Now with these danged buckets and fold up center console, you are lucky to get three, and that middle guy is going to be hurting.

The buckets for nearly all pickup brands are a joke. They have very weak support at the tailbone area and some drivers complain of leg aches due to the front bucket support jamming too much into the leg's hamstring area, causing blood flow problems. I've never had that problem, but a really skinny student of mine tells me that on a long trip, his ankles actually swell and he blames the seat. I'm sure he could help that by changing the seat adjustment, but he claims no matter what he tries, his legs hurt in his truck bucket ('99 GMC).

As far as the console issue with the benches, that can be easily solved by purchasing a rather decent aftermarket seat console. Dig around on GOOGLE and you'll find some nice ones--- I'm not talking about the $20.00 Walmart varieties.

Anyway, this is my take on the issue. I'm actually not impressed with any truck brand's OEM benches or buckets. But, the General's buckets are so weak in the tailbone area.

Irymal: I did a search on Google and the only center consoles i could come up with looked like the crappy Walmart ones. Does anyone know of any goog center consoles for a Chevy bench seat? I would like something that ran between the bottom of the dash and the seat and had a large storage compartment. I may contact a guy I know who deals in salvage chevys and see if he would trade me for some buckets and a center console for my bench. If i did that would it all bolt up to mine? Thanks for any answers.

Well the the armrest thing folds down and had storage inside of it. Besides the the seats are just like buckests without the armrest on the seat it's self.

TurboShane is right. I have the 40-20-40 split bench seat with the fold down center console. The seats are the same as the buckets without the fold sown arm rest and mine are very comfortable.

If you do not like the center section, go to a junkyard. Most will trade nearly even up your center fold down part for a console like in the bucket seat trucks and it will bolt right in.

I say buy that truck, you will love it!:D
