Guage Cluster replacement bulbs

Some of mine seem to have burnt out or something, so Im trying to see where to get more. I tried the LED ones and they were too dark, of course I got red ones. Do you have to go to GM, or can you go to Kragen?

i take it you want to go back to reg color, and not leds? any auto store should carry them if they are 194 bulbs like what my 98 has.....Trey:D

Yeah the thing with the LEDs is that I had to basically break the bulbs I had, which were off a junkyard truck, and try to make them work that way. They worked, but they were way too dim. I know the bulbs in itself were a ***** to get out, do they carry replacements with the holder also?

I didn't think they were that hard to get out... i've had my cluster apart and its all 194's, that either twist or push in...

Right, but you know that twist part, the grey holder that the bulbs are in, do they come with those or do I need to bust some more bulbs LOL

from what i have read the old style dash had the bulbs soidered into the socket. so you would need buy new 194's and the sockets for them. from what i have read everyone is just getting them from the local parts store.

my 98 were not soidered so all i did was 1/4 the socket then pull the bulb out and stick the new ones in. got the 4-led ones from www.superbrightleds.com (think thats the website?) in red. had red bulbs and they were pink. the leds aren't overly bright but i like the look of them cause they match my cd player

The ones in my '94 aren't soldered....last i checked anyway....i think...been a while....

i can only wish that i had taken the time to snap a few in the process.

My truck is at the shop trying to cure her illness so i will try to get some pics when i get her back if i remember. looks nice cause everything is red.

Well, speaking of dash lights....I have an 88 with rainbows and i want the color red to match the rest of my truck instead of the green glow in the dark looking color that they are now. I was looking at it when I had my dash apart today and the "boxes" that hold the rainbow gage are what is producing the color. Ehy, Im not good at explaining things, but maybe someone gets what Im trying to say. :D The lights themselves are simply white and I dont know exactly what to do to get the color red. My truck color theme is white/black/maroon(red)/chrome...so any ideas on a fix to this problem is very much welcome.
