First off on my 98 i have the big overhead console and i have tried a million times to remove it so that i can sand it and paint it but i can't seem to find the screws that hold it up. Anyone know how to take it down and apart so i could paint it like all my other stuff? And second anyone ever tried to remove there a/c knobs and melt the rubber off them so that there clear? thanks:D

I'm guessing your 98 O/H console is the same as the one on my Tahoe... that being the case, there is one screw in the front that holds the whole thing in place. After removing it with a Phillip's head screwdriver you should be able to push the console toward the back of the cab and pull it down from there (assuming my memory is correct -- it might be that you push it to the front). The end that doesn't have the screw is held in place by a couple of "slide-in" flat fingers. Remember to disconnect the wires at the front before pulling it all the way out.

I have never disassembled my O/H console, but once you have it down, it should be pretty straightforward. Can't speak to the A/C knobs...:(

There's one wire connector there in the console. Just remove the screw on front, slide console out, and have somebody hold it or prop it up or something, then you can pull the connector apart. You'll need a small flathead screwdriver or something to undo the clip on the connector to get it apart. Done.
