I'm about ready to cut a hole in my headliner so I can begin mounting and wiring my overhead console and before I get too far I'd figure I'd ask what the best way/method/tool to cut my headliner cleanly would be? I've taken a lot of time making a template so I can make the hole exactly the size I'd need and I really don't want ragged/crappy looking cuts.

Razor blade is the only thing I have ever seen used. Try and make the cut a little on the small size so you dont see the cuts any.

:head: I figured that would be the best way but figured I should check....

I would cut the foam/material with a razor knife, then drill a hole and cut the fiberboard with a plain hacksaw blade..

Id make a line of crazy glue where you cut so the headliner doesnt fray.

How did you go about making the template?
just use a really steady hand and a sharp utility knife. Remember, LESS IS MORE! :D now get :hack: !!!

Just take your time. The nice is thing is if you make a small mistake it won't be visible once you put the console up.
