I run 33x12.5" X-terrains, they are very smooth on the street and fairly quiet. I have to say that where they really stand out is in the sand, unless the sand is really soft, i don't even need to air down. When aired down, you can see a drastic difference in the "footprint" and their flotation and grip in the sand is outstanding. They are even better than a much wider 33x15.5" Swamper Sx's I used to run on another vehicle in the sand which were also great in the sand.

The road durability is also excellent, my tires which I picked up from a friend second hand have a total of about 15,000 miles on them now and the treadwear is almost unnoticeable to the eye. They are also fantastic on the road as far as driving manners rain or shine.

On the rocky and slick stuff, they are also very good but they do lack some sidewall strength.

I haven't yet tried them in serious mud but have heard that they aren't very capable in deep mud. In the light mud I did run them in, they were just fine.

If you're looking for a nice looking tire that's smooth and fairly quiet on the street with excellent road manners and just rules in the sand, the X-terrains is the way to go. They are limited in size choices though and on the expensive side.
