Ok, so I just got one of these http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=6970&langId=-1&catalogId=4006970&PHOTOS=on&productId=200051674&categoryId=428 and I need to pick up some impact sockets now. What are the best sockets for the price? I have craftsman everything else, but I can only find the standard depth craftsman sockets on Ebay, no deep sockets. What other brands have you guys found to be good?

if you don't want to spend the $$ on snap on,matco is cheaper but same good quality.s&k works pretty good here at the dealer.
I've got craftsman,snap-on,and matco-use them every day.both impact and chrome-i have noticed the craftsman chrome sockets are weaker.but really just depends on how much u want to spend.make sure whatever brand u pick has lifetime warranty and you can go have it replaced(lowes, home depot, tool truck) no mail in junk.
Craftsman
If it breaks, there is a Sears near everyone for that free replacement :D

That's a very good reason to go with craftsmen. SK has very good tools for the price. Also, SK and Husky are made by the same company and Husky tools are pretty damn good for the price too and you can take them back to Home Depot if they should break, just like if it were craftsmen.
If cost wasn't an issue, nothing beats Snap-on :D

I am with the Rascal. I am concerned about Home Depot. They have not been in the tool bus for a long time. I know Sears has had their issues but the tool are fair quaity for the money. Its not like they are "Stanley" quality.
If you don't use Impacts everyday.....just use regular Craftsman sockets. If they get out of shape just return them. I do it and even have impacts!
BTW, if you use this info...wear eye protection.....I never had one shatter, but have heard that they can.:dunno:
My Craftsman sockets and 25 year old impact guns are taking the '67 apart nicely

Home Deopt takes damn near anything back - best return policy in retail IMO

Stanley made Craftsman tools until 1994. They are now made by Danaher Tools (MatCo Tools) :D
There are three players in that market - Stanley, Danaher, and Snap-On. They re-brand for the others
Stanley does make Husky though :D
You sure? I though I read just last year the Stanley and Crraftsman were together again. :dunno:

I have bought Stanley sockets since they changed now with a lifetime warranty, and I gotta say I am impressed with them. I use regular 6 point deep weel stanley sockets for the impact everyday and havent had a problem yet.
If I do I just cruise on down to the local wally world and get me a new set.

Maybe they are back again? Here is a site I bookmarked a while back: http://www.team.net/www/morgan/tech/whotools.html For what that's worth :D
I did some research on Craftsman/Sears tools a while back as far as who makes what. Found out Ryobi makes their Gas Trimmers & Table Saws :gone2far:
Ryobi sucks :D

Good site Joe. I have always thought Snap-on tools were over rated. They do make some really nice specialty tools though.

I agree with you Joe but what if they do not carry the tools any more? They wil ask you for the reciept to get your money back. I just like how easy it is to go into Sears and get what you need. :dunno:

I concur, I also have broke 3 husky 3/8ths ratchets helping my buddy with his delorean. The ratchet mechanism broke each time. Maybe they had a bad batch, it was right in a row. That soured me. I ended up getting the rusty craftsman from my truck each time.
The closest home depot also don't have the stock like sears does. Very few oddball or specialty hand tools. There is a 15 foot section in their tool department and that is it.
IMO Craftsman seems to provide good value. For the average person, nothign more is needed, spend your money elsewhere.
I agree - The only thing from Husky I bought is a small socket/tool set that zips up in a case to keep with my Snowmobile for those unscheduled on the trail problems my SkiDoo buddies have :head: :D
What I haven't pilphered from my dads Tools has been purchased from Sears
